Sadly, Belle was surrendered by a dealer who refused to put the time and money into her medical needs. She came with swelling on both sides of her face alongside her upper cheek teeth. She also had a deep tunnel beside two of her upper teeth which got packed with rotting food. X-rays showed the tunnels leading directly up to infected tooth roots. Both of these infected teeth had to be removed. However, due to Belle's young age, these extractions were complicated. Her roots were still forming and they are thin and fragile, so they're easy to break when pulling the teeth. These fragments could have led to serious complications if not removed. We enlisted the expertise of a board-certified dental specialist veterinarian. Belle had an appointment with her at the Tufts Veterinary School Hospital on Monday, February 10th, 2025 where she had one of the teeth removed and she returned again March 10th, 2025 to have the second one removed. Belle will not be available for adoption until her mouth has fully healed and she is healthy. At that point we will be very excited to find this young, beautiful girl her forever home!
