Hello, My Name is Tinker (Adopted March 2023)

Tinker is a 9-year-old sweeter than apple pie 14.3hh Gypsy/Paint cross gelding that CDHR rescued at seven months old in April 2014. Tinker’s sire was a Gypsy Cob, and his dam was 13.1hh paint pony.

Tinker was adopted six years ago and was recently returned to CDHR. As always, the last thing we want is one of our horses to be returned, but we are always here with arms open when needed.

Tinker has been back with us at CDHR since the beginning of June. His previous adopter reported signs of possible headshaking syndrome, but we have seen no evidence of that since his return.

He is very respectful on the ground to all our volunteers and their different level of handling skills. He always welcomes volunteers in his paddock, often approaching them first. He still has his fun, playful side that we all remember. Often plays with his herd mates (his favorite is “I’ll steal your fly mask!”). He loves his herd and interacts with them but is a good boy when it’s time to leave them and work.

TINKER (Adopted)
Age: 10
Height: 14.3hh
Breed: Gypsy Paint Cross

Our trainer, Davinia, has also been having fun since Tinker’s return. When Tinker is under saddle, she has been putting a nose net on him to help with the possible head shaking syndrome.

She has said, “Tinker has a lot of great qualities he loves to show off, he goes in a nice frame, and will willingly walk trot and canter. He is a little out of shape from being out of work for a while and could benefit from some more stamina, but he is well on his way to making his next person a lovely mount. Some things I see Tinker excelling in are hunter paces, continuing to trail ride, and he could probably even do some lower level dressage.”

Tinker would do best with an experienced, confident rider. He is a good boy but also has some opinionated pony traits at times. He will try to test YOUR abilities.
