Special Needs: Star has a conformation issue of the spine, commonly called a "roach back"(Kyphosis). It is when part of the spine curves upwards instead of evenly. It is basically the opposite of a sway back (Lordosis). Kyphosis in horses can be both genetic (congenital) or a musculoskeletal dysfunction and it's not usually painful and in Star’s case, she is not in pain.
