Special Needs: Star has a conformation issue of the spine, commonly called a "roach back"(Kyphosis). It is when part of the spine curves upwards instead of evenly. It is basically the opposite of a sway back (Lordosis). Kyphosis in horses can be both genetic (congenital) or a musculoskeletal dysfunction and it's not usually painful and in Star’s case, she is not in pain. For this reason, we feel it is best she not wear a saddle and be ridden.

Notes: Our beautiful, ethereal, sweet, curious, gentle mare, Star, is available for adoption as a companion horse only.  Star is such a special horse—she would thrive under the care of a calm, gentle soul who wants to give her a quiet, peaceful home. She would love spending time with her person on walks together; she would do well with another calm horse in need of a companion. Star is in good health but needs meticulous care of her feathers because she is prone to scratches.  Come visit our special unicorn princess.  
She stands for Joey for farrier but does occasionally need sedation to finish her trim. She was once tried with a yearling Haflinger gelding and it did not go well. Star instantly told us she did not like the little guy. Has done well with draft size mares and geldings (and Johns lol). Star has incredible patience and is our go-to horse when we need someone calm and gentle- she will stand all day for pictures with Santa and loves everyone, adults or children.
