Hello, My Name is Thomas (Adopted April 2022)
Meet Thomas, our number one funny guy on the farm. Thomas is a 17-year-old Percheron cross-gelding. He is the perfect size for someone just starting to get into draft horses at just 15.3 hh, not too big and not too small. Thomas does not enjoy riding, but he has done some ground driving here with our trainer. Thomas has been one of the easiest keepers we have at the farm-EVER! He is barefoot, stands well for the farrier, has had no medical or hoof issues since we have had him, and he gains weight on air, so the cost of his diet isn't outrageous! LOL Thomas is a people lover; he loves all of his humans and all their attention. He enjoys grooming, walking, and spending time grazing. He loves being told how handsome he is, and you can see in his eyes, he eats up compliments. He's a complete love with a spunky attitude!
Thomas does have some trouble making horse friends. He has done well with large, Alfa geldings who don't run away from him if he tries being the boss, and we just haven't had a horse that fits that description in some time on our farm. Thomas currently shares a paddock with our Marshmellow (Senior Percheron gelding) divided by an electric line. Thomas has become friends with Marshmellow, but unfortunately, Marshmellow has a special diet that Thomas can't have, so we can't put them together. Thomas has "broken" into MM's paddock several times, and they get along just fine.
He's an incredibly intelligent and eager horse. Thomas needs someone to work with him on a daily basis and give him the attention and further training he needs.
We hope that someone would like to give Thomas the home he deserves. He would do ok with a similar split paddock with your current horse, and hopefully, someday they can be together once Thomas is comfortable with that.
