In 2011, CDHR was just a small group of friends of our founder, Stacey Golub, DVM, who all have a passion for horses. One of the group’s first rescue was from the New Holland Auction house in Pennsylvania. The group received a call that there was a Percheron mare going into the auction. Help was needed.

Bud and Rex's story does not lack heartache, but it's a different kind of heartache. You see, Budd and Rex had not been abused. They weren't left in a pasture and forgotten. Their heartache is that life changes happen—changes out of their owner's control, age, and health.
